THE SS LEAGUE OF NATIONS is a team competition specifically for regular players in SS.
Here we go again! Season 3 sees six teams battling it out in 3 v 3 matches on Thursdays at 4pm, 5pm and 6pm EST. It's a simple format really: the three players on each team play each other in three rounds, giving a total of nine games per match. Therefore the scores can be 5-4, 6-3, 7-2, 8-1 or 9-0. The winning team receives 3 points in the 6-team 'round-robin' league; a team losing 5-4 or 6-3 will collect 1 point. Because this competition is fundamentally a fun event, rather than have timers and default wins, we do allow the flexibility of substitutes as fill-in players. When the league is completed, the top 4 teams meet in the semi-final, followed by the Final a week later! Easy peasy!

COMPETITION RULES

1. Eligibility. The SS League of Nations, hereafter called 'the competition, is open to regular players who are members of the Straightshots Pool League.
2. Format. The competition will be played between teams representing continents, nations or geographic regions on Thursdays in League 01 at 4pm and 5pm EST, in accordance with the pre-arranged 'round-robin' league schedule. The competition is not a Cases/MyLeague competition so there is no registration, tourney jumps or reports on a tourney page.
3. Matches. Excluding the Final, a match will have two teams playing each other, involving three players per team, and will consist of three rounds. In each round, a player will play a different opponent, giving each player a total of three games. Therefore, each match will consist of nine games in total. Each round of three games is played one after the other with no break. The Final can be played as a 3 v 3 or 4 v 4 match, depending on the availability of players.
4. Results. A match result can be one of the following: 5-4, 6-3, 7-2, 8-1 or 9-0. In the 'round-robin' league, 3 points will be awarded to a team that wins a match, and 1 point will be awarded to a team that loses a match by 4-5 or 6-3.
5. Players. A team must use the players assigned to that team in a match. A team member of one team may not play for another team unless called in as a substitute (see Rule 6). A player can be replaced at any time at the discretion of the organisers. In the play-off matches, teams must comprise of the regular team members (see Rule 6).
6. Substitute. If a player is absent, a team may call upon a substitute player who must be a member of SS and approved to play by the organisers. However, substitute players are not permitted in the play-off matches.
7. Timers. Timers are seven minutes. If no substitute player is available, a timer may be requested on the missing player, which is applicable per round. Where two players have to play each other and neither are present, the player with the better MVP record will be declared the winner.
8. Reporting. Immediately after a game is played, the losing player must report his or her loss in the lobby. All games will be reported by the organisers as 'SS leagues' to help League activity.
9. League. Each team will play an opposing team once in the round-robin league. Positions will be decided by the higher number of points when all matches have been played. If points are tied between two teams, the head-to-head result will determine the higher position. If three or more teams tie on points, the higher number of games won will determine the positions.
10. Play-off matches. After all regular matches have been completed, there may be a semi-final round or a final round. Play-off matches will be held as 3 v 3 or 4 v 4 matches of nine games (3 v 3) or 16 games (4 v 4), depending on player availability.
11. MVP. A player will only be eligible for the Most Valuable Player award if he or she plays in at least 75% (or the nearest figure) of the season, which includes play-off matches, as follows: Season: 4 weeks = participation: 3 weeks; season: 5 weeks = participation: 3 weeks; season: 6 weeks = participation: 4 weeks; season: 7 weeks = participation: 4 weeks; season: 8 weeks = participation: 5 weeks; season: 9 weeks = participation: 6 weeks.
12. League rules. All League rules apply as appropriate and as deemed necessary as and when required. All questions regarding interpretations of these Rules, or of any point not provided for by these Rules, will be referred to the organisers whose decision will be final and binding on all concerned.
